At EquineSELF, we use horses because they offer a unique and powerful way to help people understand themselves and their relationships with others.  Horses are highly perceptive animals. They are constantly responding to our body language, energy, focus, confidence, emotions and behaviour. Unlike people, they don't judge us based on our position, appearance, past experiences or what we say about ourselves. They respond to what we are communicating in the moment.  This creates an opportunity for honest, immediate and non-judgemental feedback.

A horse may respond differently when we are confident and clear compared with when we are uncertain, distracted or inconsistent. Through these interactions, we can begin to notice our own patterns of behaviour and explore how small changes in the way we communicate or approach a situation can create a different response.

The Horse Becomes a Mirror

Working with a horse can bring things to the surface that are often difficult to recognise through conversation alone.  A simple interaction can create insights into trust, boundaries, communication, leadership, confidence, emotional awareness, cooperation and personal responsibility.

The experience allows people to slow down, be present and pay attention to what is happening — both with the horse and within themselves.

Learning Through Experience, the power comes from experiencing rather than simply talking about change.

When someone discovers that changing their approach, body language, focus or communication creates a different response from the horse, they have an opportunity to reflect on what that might mean in their everyday life.

These experiences can provide practical insights that can be carried into relationships, the workplace, leadership and personal life.

No Riding. No Horse Experience Required.

Everything we do at EquineSELF is ground-based. There is no riding involved, and you don't need to be confident around horses or have any previous horse experience.

​

The focus is on the relationship and interaction between the person and the horse — observing, connecting, communicating and discovering.

​

Our horses aren't there to perform or be ridden. They are partners in the experience, helping create a safe and different environment in which people can explore, learn, reflect and grow.

Sometimes a horse can show us something about ourselves that words alone cannot.
